Our approach
Personal support that starts with listening
Hypnotherapy Newcastle was set up to offer something many people find hard to come by: unhurried, one-to-one support from an experienced practitioner, in a setting that feels calm and safe.
We do not use a fixed programme. Instead, each session draws on four core approaches — hypnotherapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and counselling. Reiki and past life regression are also available. Sonya chooses and combines them based on what you need, and she explains her reasons as she goes. The aim is always to help you understand what is happening, feel more in control and move towards the change you want.
We are also honest about what these approaches can and cannot do. We will never promise overnight results. If another kind of help would suit you better, such as your GP or an NHS service, we will tell you.
Meet the practitioner
Who is Sonya Hudson?
Sonya Hudson is a clinical hypnotherapist and behavioural change consultant based in Wallsend, Newcastle upon Tyne. She has more than 20 years of experience in therapy and personal development, and she sees every client at Hypnotherapy Newcastle herself. The person you speak to on your first call is the person you will work with.
Her background and training
Alongside her one-to-one work, Sonya has spent many years teaching and training hypnotherapists and coaches, both in the UK and abroad. She has run workshops, co-trained on professional courses and spoken on radio and in interviews about hypnosis, Humanistic Neuro-Linguistic Psychology (HNLP) and life coaching.
Her training covers a wide range of methods. It draws on the work of Milton H. Erickson, Dave Elman, Virginia Satir and Carl Rogers, as well as NLP co-founders Richard Bandler and John Grinder. This breadth means she is not tied to one technique and can adapt to the person in front of her.
How Sonya works with clients
Sonya's style is warm, open and straightforward. Some people need gentle, exploratory work; others want something practical and direct. She will talk through the options with you and agree a plan together. You can ask questions at any stage, and you never have to share more than you are comfortable with.
Every person is different, so every session is too.
Who Sonya works with
Sonya works with adults from all walks of life. Some are students worried about exams or a driving test. Others are busy professionals under pressure, people going through a loss or a big change, or anyone who feels stuck with a habit or fear they want to leave behind. Younger clients can also be seen, with a parent or guardian involved. If you are unsure whether your situation is something she can help with, the free call is the easiest way to find out.

Beyond the therapy room
Teaching, training and public speaking
Sonya's experience goes beyond the therapy room. She has trained other practitioners, led group workshops and talked about hypnosis on the radio. It also means she is used to explaining hypnosis in a clear, simple way.
